Scotland 1911 census release

The Scottish 1911 Census was published on 5th April, launched online via the ScotlandsPeople website: www.scotlandspeoplegov.uk  The documents present a differnt appearance to those already released records for England, Wales and Ireland, as the original household schedules for Scotland have not survived. Instead the details of some 4.7million people from 1911 will be released in the form of enumerators’ returns, similar to the returns of 1841-1901. However for 1911 they are across two pages and in colour for the first time. Name, address, age, occupation, birthplace, length of marriage, number of children born to the couple and number of children alive are among the details recorded.
